My Bolton Wanderers supporting Granddad took me to a game at the Reebok against a European team (I can’t remember what team for certain). This, of course, was when Bolton was in the UEAFA Cup, I wasn’t at all interested in the game!
It’s a tie between two:
1) Burnley 1-0 Manchester United – For most Burnley fans this game sticks out most. It was our first home game in the Primer League. No one expected three points! The atmosphere was electric and when Robbie Blake scored – it was deafening.
2) Atherton Colls 1-1 Radcliffe Borough – I don’t know why this game sticks out to me. It was my first game on the tannoy at Colls and there was a typical Non-League FA Cup atmosphere around the place.
AFC Darwen 5-0 Northwitch Villa – It was cold, it was my first gem of 2013 and I hate one sided game, also, I didn’t really find AFC Darwen the most welcoming of clubs.
The Etihad – I love it. Yes, it’s a modern ground but the difference is, it’s not soulless. It has the ability to create an amazing atmosphere and I love the fans area around the ground – this allows all fans to mingle and this also creates a friendly atmosphere.
Wembley – I know, I know, it’s the national stadium. There’s no denying, it looks great. However, once you’re in the ground, you don’t feel like you’re at a football match, everything echoes and your miles, and I mean miles, away from the pitch.
