Where have all the football 'characters' gone to? The swashbuckling stars of the 1970's, with long hair and chads and wayward personalities? Football is more bland today eh?
Sheff U v Sheff W 1970 summat.. can't remember exactly, but United won 3-2. That's the main thing.
Probably the promotion clinching games at Darlington in the old 4th division and Leicester in the old 2nd division - because of the outcome. But best, most thrilling game, was probably the play-off semi v Nottm Forest at Brammal lane in 2003.
Wimbledon away, at Plough Lane, sometime in the 1980's - we lost 5-0 and got very wet. Long way to go for a sound thrashing and flat beer.
Because I haven't been to any that are better! Size, significance, history, I mean, it's just the epitome of a great English football club. One day, Brammal lane will be like this. (Now, time for my medication...)
Watching the game stood on a sloping grass bank - no atmosphere - good pies though! Aldershot (The Recreation ground), Halifax (The Shay) and Rochdale (Spotlands) weren't much better.
