Coventry's move to their new stadium has been a rollercoaster ride. Opened in 2005, the new 32,000 capacity Ricoh Arena looked to be everything the club needed. However, fans were in for a tough journey after the initial honeymoon period. Coventry have left the stadium twice through disputes with owners and landlords, firstly playing at Sixfields in Northampton followed 5 years later with a season sharing at Birmingham City's St Andrews.
The move hasn't been a good one for either league position or average attendance. City dropped from 23rd to 40th in the overall league ranking whilst average attendance has fallen as well - down 5% from 18,187 to 17,232 (and that's even ignoring the season spent at the much smaller Sixfields stadium).

Coventry City have agreed a deal to return to the Ricoh Arena from the start of the 2021/2022 season.
The Sky Blues have been playing at Birmingham City's St Andrews stadium for the last year and a half after being kicked out of the Ricoh for the second time. City spent the 2013/2014 season playing at Sixfields in Northampton after the last dispute with the ground owners.
The return to the Ricoh comes after Cov announced plans to build another stadium in the city last year. These plans now appear to be on hold after the Championship club signed a 10-year agreement to move back to the Ricoh.
All being well, the 92 Club will once again contain 92 stadiums next season.

Coventry City are exploring the possibility of building a new ground after leaving the Ricoh Arena for the 2nd time in the last 6 years.
The League 1 club are playing at Birmingham's St Andrews this season, but have confirmed that they are scouring the local area in order to find a suitable site for a new stadium.
18 new locations have been identified with the club working on drawing up a shortlist, if a return to the Ricoh cannot be agreed with Wasps rugby club.
It's very early days yet, but hopefully some positive news for Coventry fans soon.
Sunday 26th May 2019
Coventry City will play their home matches at Birmingham City’s St Andrews stadium next season. The move comes after Coventry failed to reach an agreement with Wasps rugby about sharing the Ricoh Arena.
It’s the 2nd time in recent years that the Sky Blues have been left homeless, having used Northampton’s Sixfields stadiums for the 2013/2014 season.
At least this is a little better for Cov fans though - St Andrews is a 44 mile round trip from the Ricoh, compared to the 72 mile round trip to Northampton. That’s scant consolation to their supports who are bitterly disappointed with the news.
