About sheepshagger98

First Game

The first game I went to was Wrexham vs Wycombe Wanderers at The Racecourse Ground in a League 2 fixture, this was a trip with my primary school and I sat with my classmates in the Yale Stand. Me and my mate got our birthdays put up on the scoreboard and had them announced by the stadium announcer because our parents requested it. I can't remember what the score was but I remember that I wanted to go back there and watch another match!

Best Game

The best game I have ever been to was in January 2012 when Wrexham played Brighton & Hove Albion at the new Amex Stadium. It was a FA Cup 3rd Round tie and 2,028 other Wrexham fans travelled to Falmer, a 10 hour all-round journey!
Wrexham were in the 5th tier of the football pyramid lying top of the Blue Square Bet Premier Conference, Brighton were lying just outside of the play-off places in the 2nd tier of the football pyramid in the N Power Championship. Brighton were clear favourites!
Brighton went ahead through 17 year old striker James Forster-Caskey but not long later our Polish winger Adrian Cieslewicz ripped Brighton apart infront of the Wrexham end and blasted his shot past Peter Begavans in the Brighton net. The game finished 1-1 which led to another 1-1 at Wrexham before Brighton won on penalties!

Worst Game

That has got to be when we played Gateshead at The Racecourse Ground in 2011, we lost 7-2 and played absolutely dreadful. Wrexham at the time were going through takeover and were trying to turf owners at the time, Geoff Mo$$ and Ian Robert$ out as they had basically nearly killed the club! A protest was going on off the pitch in the stands which probably affected the players at the time.

For me and probably any other football fan who has visited there, the best ground has got to be Wembley Stadium.
I have been there twice supporting Wrexham, both in the same year...
We played there in March 2013 in the FA Trophy Final, which is basically the non-leagues version of the FA Cup. We took on Grimsby Town, both teams were battling for the league title at the time so this game proved to be a bit of a distraction really, but a good distraction in a way as the prize for winning this match was huge as there was a lot of prize money at stake to win.

35,000 fans attended the game altogether, 18,672 of them being Wrexham, which was spectacular especially when the weather conditions in Wrexham were the worst the town has seen in a decade as there were in some area's 50cm's of snow, and that was on the roads! 80 coaches managed to get to London which took just over 4 and a half hours and allWrexham fans were in good spirits.
Andy Cook put Grimsby infront early in the second half through but then Wrexham captain Dean Keates was cropped inside the 18 yard box and Wrexham were given a penalty kick, up stepped Kevin Thornton to put it away to make it 1-1! Smoke bombs and flares were going off in the Wrexham end as our half of the stadium errupted!
Then the teams could not be split after extra time even though Wrexham dominated the whole affair!
Adrian Cieslewicz, Danny Wright, Chris Westwood all scored there penalty kicks for Wrexham and Hatton, Brodie missed theres for Grimsby with Colbeck scoring Grimsby's one, Wrexham needed to score there next to win the FA Trophy Final, up stepped young John Hunt, left back for the match as vice captain Neil Ashton was out injured, he placed it into the corner and the fans were jubilant!
The next time we went there just a month later we took near enough 10,000 fans to the Play-Off Final to get into League 2, we took so little due to the expensive ticket prices and the novalty of Wembley had worn off on the part time fans. We lost 2-0 to Newport, the only thing we lacked were a striker, if we had a goalscorer we would of won the game simple as that.

I visited Holker Street on a cold Tuesday night in March 2013 for a Wrexham league fixture. I went with four others in a car and lets just say I won't be rushing back to the place in a hurry. The place is a tip, not just the ground. Run down, imprisoned and awful are just a few things that come to mind. Graffiti everywhere to be seen, the only thing there was chavs, drunks and drug users. Horrible place, thank god we won the match 1-0 thanks to Kevin Thornton in the 78th minute after Jay Harris got sent off for us on the hour mark.
