About roverholic

First Game

Blackburn Rovers 2 Vs 1 Southampton, 30/11/1996

Best Game

Burnley 0 Vs 1 Blackburn Rovers, 28/03/2010. Not the greatest game of football for any neutral but a white hot atmosphere and immense vocal support from the Blackburn fans made this the best atmosphere of any game I've been to beating a Blackburn Vs Celtic fixture and even beating a 4-3 home win Vs Manchester United. The 1-0 win courtesy of local lad David Dunn's penalty made it all the more sweeter. This game isn't just a rivalry, it's pure hatred which unfortunatley usually ends in violence and arrests. You can forget your big city derbies, it's the small town derbys with close nit communities which have the real passion within the game.

Worst Game

Hard to pick one out but a lot of contenders from Blackburn's 2011/12 relegation season. The worst for me though was Manchester United at home on 12/05/1999 which ended in a 0-0 draw relegating Blackburn from the Premier League. Apart from the result and consequences the thing that I'll never forget is seeing Uncle Jack (Walker) with a tear in his eye. He never lived to see us promoted again and win the League Cup but I'm sure he was watching on from a high in his Rovers shirt. Rovers number one fan! RIP Jack

Got something about it unlike most of the generic new builds, soul. Yes its a mis-mash of stands and quite old in places but this adds to the feeling of history. The stands are close to the pitch which I like also. The fact that it is in the middle of loads of terraced housing also adds to the charm and is a throwback to the past. Rather that than some stadium out on some industrial estate on the fringes of town.

Just like many modern stadiums. Generic boring design with no character. Take the nameoff the side and it could be any number of stadiums.
