About robrussell

First Game

I was born and grew up in Essex where I followed my local team Southend United for the first years of my life before attending my first Norwich City game at the age of 11. I had been at my cousin's wedding in Norwich on the morning of the game, and for some reason still unbeknownst to me my older brother (a Norwich supporter before me) and I decided to slip away after the ceremony to Carrow Road rather than go to our cousin's reception! Norwich beat Huddersfield 4-1 with messrs Bellamy and Roberts each scoring a brace - and I was turned for life.

Best Game

Pllayoff final, May 2015, Wembley Stadium. The best day of my footballing life, bar none.

Worst Game

Norwich City 1-7 Colchester United - the first game of the season following our relegation to League One. There was a very tense atmosphere around the ground before the game - not the customary air of confidence that there should have been for a club who were being branded a big fish in a small pond. I remember being sat in the snake pit at 0-4 when two supporters got onto the pitch and hurled their season tickets at the then manager Bryan Gunn, which prompted about 90% of the ground to turn on the team. Goals five, six and seven duly followed and Norwich supporters began cheering the opposition goals as they continued to fly in. I left the ground ten minutes early.

Three days later saw a 4-0 victory in the cup at Yeovil, Gunny was replaced by our 7-1 conqueror Paul Lambert, back to back promotions ensued, and all was right with the world again.

Serene location, good transport links and one of the local boozers - the Crabtree - do an excellent burger and pint... Bravo SW6.

Complete dive / shit club.
