yeltz4ever's review of The Grove

Been going to the ground for as long as I can remember and will go there as long as I can! #UpTheYeltz

Location

The ground is easily accessible from either the main entrance on Old Hawne Lane or from the back entrance off the Stourbridge Road. However, there is very limited parking for supporters (with only space for about 6-8 cars down the Stourbridge Road end). Tthe ground is very easy to find along the main road and once you see the big blue gates you can't miss it.

View

The Grove is perfect for everyone. The Harry Rudge Stand is a full-seater stand (holding approx. 500 people) with a pretty good view over the pitch. It is also where the directors box and the family enclosure is. The only downside is a few of the seats are a little worse for wear.

The shed (which is adjacent to the Harry Rudge Stand) is normally where Halesowen will kick towards second half. It is a sheltered standing area that is the placer to stand if you're looking for atmosphere. The shed is perched on top of a slight slope, resulting in a brilliant view of the pitch. However, it does get slightly cramped in the second half.

Behind the dugouts is open terracing. This terracing goes up quite high and standing on the top gives an excellent view of the pitch.

Finally is the Stourbridge Road end. It offers open terracing which is high (but not quite as high as behind the dugouts).

Facilities

Facilities in the ground are good. As you enter the ground through the main entrance, on the left is the club shop, toilets and the cafe and on the right is the newly constructed James Grove Lounge. The club shop is small with a petite shop front and a changing room. Attached to the club shop is a toilet block (which despite me visiting the ground all my life, I have never been in) and then just down a little bit from that is a tin structure which is the Yeltz Cafe.

The James Ground Lounge is the bar which was built at the end of the 2013/14 season to bring revenue into the club (which won the league that year). It can hold 100 people comfortably and is fully kitted out with TVs, bar and wifi. Perfect for HT or to hire out.

There is also a toilet block in between the Harry Rudge Stand and the Shed which is big but not in the best condition as it has been there since the construction of the Harry Rudge Stand in the 1980's.

Food & Drink

The James Grove Lounge offers all the alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages you could ever wish for, and at a reasonable price. The service is normally quick and efficient and the staff have always got a smile on their face.

The Yeltz Cafe offers all the football grub you need. Pies, burgers, chips, pasties etc.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at the Grove is very inconsistent. If the away ground have brought fans and they are singing then we won't get outdone and will sing as well. However, if the other team don't bring fans and they don't sing, then we won't get started until the second half.

If you want guaranteed atmosphere, go into the shed second half.
