wrexhamash's review of Hayes Lane (Westminster Waste Stadium)

My team Wrexham played there on March 30th 2018. For a National league side/stadium it has to be the worst. We had to stand out in the open in torrential rain when there was another roofed stand which is usually open to away supporters which the stewards and local police were all using to stay dry. They could have opened the section up for adults with young children like I was (7yr old) who were drenched and wanted to watch the game. The stewards were non helpful and one of them (a well built chap in white top) was goading Wrexham fans leading to one supporter retaliating and been led by the police from the ground. The staff at the away bar/diner were all really nice and really helpful so perhaps the stewards can have a chat with them and discuss how to be polite and helpful and welcoming. Considering from October to April tends to be the cold and wet months surely a National league side with such a small home crowd spread over three stands does not make sense when the home support could have fitted into one stand especially when the away team (Wrexham have one of the largest fan away day following in the league. When Wrexham have home matches against the so called bigger teams we accommodate then in areas usually set aside for home teams.

Location

15 20 minute walk from Bromley South with the Bricklayers Arms pub on-route which is very welcoming of away fans....

View

good

Facilities

small but ok

Food & Drink

The Bar/diner is a small building with awnings for the fans to stand under which helped as it was pouring down all day. The food was good and the staff ever so helpful, kind and welcoming. The only plus about the away end.

Police & Stewards

awful and an area that the football club seriously need to relook at. The stewards were inciting and disrespectful and had no idea of why they were meant to be there. Maybe it was the English/Welsh thing but the police seriously need to look at this area next time a non English side play at Bromley.

Atmosphere

It must have been a cup final day having so many away fans at their ground making the noise we did. Home fans I expect were crystal fans with nothing to do on a Friday as there team play on Saturday
