wonderwasp has rated The Valley 4.0 out of 5.
No matter what kind of shape The Valley is in, its very existence is a lasting tribute to the Charlton fans who fought to save it. Having said that, it's a very decent ground indeed.
For such a big stadium it's a surprise that you have to be almost on top of it before you find it. Oh for the days of big floodlight pylons, eh? There's a high rise block behind the away end, which houses at least one Millwall fan. Nice chip shop nearby and a very fine away fans' pub.
The away end is the one part of the stadium which seems unchanged from the old days, so it's not particularly luxurious. The rest of the ground looks lovely, though.
Not that great, really. The toilets are pretty last century.
Outside good. Inside I don't know.
Fine. On my visit a lone hooligan invaded the away end and got short shrift.
Good. The stands trap the noise and there's no doubt what colour Charlton play in because everything, inside and out, is painted red.
