Visited Guiseley for the last game of the season against Torquay. It's very basic but situated almost in the countryside and a proper neighbourhood ground. I expect most of the townsfolk support Leeds and never expected Guiseley to reach the National League. Now they have discovered their local team!
Great location. Right next to the main road as you enter the town from Leeds, and yet backs onto a nice country lane with a pub at the end of it.
The away end is pretty bad. Only a couple of steps so if someone tall stands in front of you you'll see very little, but it's no more expensive to sit in the main stand where the view is fine. The other end looks little better but the stand from which the teams emerge is small but perfectly adequate for such a little club.
Guiseley FC have come a long way in a short time so we can't expect miracles just yet.
There's a chip van. It's a long queue but the chips are worth the wait.
Never saw any police but the stewards were perfectly fine.
On this day Guiseley needed a win to be sure of not going down so the fans were bouncing when they went 3-0 ahead in the first half. When Torquay came back to 4-3 the tension was palpable. I imagine other matches are probably a bit more sedate.
