Feethams still exists as a cricket ground and an empty field. The football ground was a bit of a dump but was in a really nice spot and the juxtaposition of cricket and football made it special.
A short walk from the railway station. You had to go round the houses (literally) to get into the away end; otherwise everyone entered via the cricket ground.
No better or worse than most.
There were two little stands (at least till one of them was replaced by a big one during the Reynolds era) and a sort of elongated bus shelter at one end and a hillock at the other for away supporters. The perimeter wall was unsafe at that end. It could get really cold in December. Brrrr.
Never tried.
I can't remember.
It was a pretty ground but usually sparsely populated. Darlo were never much cop; they were usually around the 4th division re-election zone along with Hartlepools, Barrow, Workington, Southport etc. so the fans didn't have much chance to get excited.
