trebor has rated The Shay 3.0 out of 5.
Nice Stadium with two big terraces and smart new main stand, a Football League ground but poorly run on the commercial side of the club that keeps the club non-league. Stewards also think they are their to annoy rather than help.
Two sides the North Terrace and Skircoat Road End unused due to small attendances . Nothing at the ground for selling merchandise and a very steep £21 entry fee for tier five football. ''Twenty's Plenty'' was a campaign set up due to Premier League games being to expensive, this is Non-League semi-pro. No wonder so many head off to the many Premier and Championship sides nearby.
Easy walk from station, the town centre is north of the stadium about half a mile away.
Trains run regularly from Manchester Victoria and Leeds: Walk left out of station head straight until the car showroom turn right and take next left. All stand are accessed via this road.
Good Pub ''Three Pigeons'' and Cafe next to entrance.
Good modern stand, enough leg room and wheelchair area is raised. The roof kept off the rain.
Plenty for the level and at Football League standard. Hot water and good driers.
Nice tea made for you, bag of chips were nice and plentiful.
They do not provide for the usual non-league day out that's normally very friendly and welcome you to the game.
Over officious concentrating on tops on bottles
Average but if you price out the fans what do you expect.
