"Surprisingly good."

The ''Generic identikit Ground Bores'' fan will tell you the Madejski Stadium is everything you should hate about modern Stadiums.
But I found the ground was excellent and with public transport organised as well as it is in Reading I found Reading one of the better Stadium visits I have had.

Location

There isn't much traditional town centre facilities around The Madejski Stadium other than the retail park. But as there is a very frequent, excellent Bus service from a town centre railway station, facilities are in easy reach.
Reading Station being a major station should be easily reached from most areas of the UK and a better option than the car.
From Train Station:
Head right out of station entrance and you should see a line of ''F1'' Buses waiting. Head for the front of the queue. The journey takes around 15 minutes and goes straight to the ground
Return:
Pick Bus up from where you got off they start leaving around 10 minutes before the final whistle.
Traffic appeared to move quickly and Car Parking appeared plentiful.

Good leg room and from the corner stands you can get a chance to watch a game from an angle that most grounds are unable to provide.

Facilities

Plenty of clean toilets, an exit/entrance used properly by supporters and a fast flowing hot tap, add ledge/shelf so you can place bags on while ''you go'' and it would be perfect.

Food & Drink

Plenty of Chip Vans and others around ground. My Jumbo Sausage & Chips were very tasty if on the expensive side for the portion.

Police & Stewards

Plenty of Police and Security around the Bus Stops and Railway Station.
The ground Staff were on the young side this could be a good thing seeing how safe football has become in the last 25 years but you do wonder how they'd cope if anything ''kicked off''

Atmosphere

Better than expected considering that both clubs' are London/South based and is an area that is becoming synonymous for the recent trend for generic dull songs that sound all the same.
Brentford sang a few of them but the large away following preferred ''Brentford'' songs.
Reading were OK. The Drummer appeared a bit tired and mustered up a few beats but was silent for the majority of the game.
The atmosphere was louder and better than I expected.
English football grounds are suffering from dull atmospheres lately and few deserve more than 2.5 stars
