Everything is perfect for a family day out. Close to a mainline train station, there appeared to be plenty of parking options, a multiple choice of takeaways and good chippys within a short walk and a fantastic attitude towards youth and family's that should be an example for smaller clubs that are surrounded by big Premier League teams.
Cannot go wrong. A 5 min walk from a train station that has numerous connections from all over the UK and is situated on a fast mainline.
The stand was a bit small which meant some of my view was obscured by the goal.
Other than that I had the option of using a lounge bar which was higher up, enclosed and provided board games, table football and TV's.
There were enough toilets and even a warm one if you used the lounge.
It smelled nice and noticed the group of Kids were given plenty of hot dogs prior to kickoff. The lounge did have a tuck box included with Pub style snack options such as warmed up Pies it looked football ground priced. Yet at least you had a table and chair to eat it from with games for the kids to play.
It was more light lunch/snack food than a meal.
Yet there are about twenty takeaways on Nantwich Road.
Extra marks for saying hello and welcoming fans. This maybe due to them employing adult stewards rather than using the cheaper option of apprentices or school kids on a weekend job which is becoming common in lower league football.
About twenty Crewe fans tried the usual boring generic rubbish sang normally by away fans for about 10 minutes. I guess they ''got in first'' as it's usually the away fans that sing them.
Is it who ever sings them first gets to keep it for that game? as the opposition do not want to be heard copying them because Gillingham were very quiet. Was it the home fans using the only songs they know leaving them at a loss at what to sing?
