The Emirates is a new ground, but is built only a few hundred yards from Arsenal's former home, Highbury. Luckiily, this means it's not built next to a motorway junction, miles away from civilisation!
Looking at the ground from the outside, it's pretty impressive - a large modern structure (as you'd expected) with the Arsenal crest proudly displayed for all to see.
Inside the ground is very impressive and the stadium benefits from a roofline that rises and falls in several places - giving the ground a bit of character and making it stand out from the other new stadiums about. One nice feature is that some space between the tiers is used to show all the trophies that Arsenal have won throughout the years - this is a great touch as the club could have used this space for advertising instead!
My major bug-bear with the Emirates though is the seats - they're padded and they're absolutely massive. Padded seats ain't football - it's prawn sandwich!
Overall though, I like the Emirates - I didn't think I would, but I really do!
Excellent location near a couple of tube stations (although they can be pretty busy on matchdays), and within spitting distance of their old Highbury ground.
The view is excellent as you'd expect, but my problem is with the massive padded seats - it just isn't football!
As you'd expect, the facilities at the Emirates are excellent.
The police and stewards were fair enough from what I saw.
I know Arsenal fans have a reputation for being quiet, but I was relatively impressed with the atmosphere on my visit... although Arsenal did win 6-0!
