I visited Northolme on Boxing Day 2014 for the (relatively) local derby between Gainsborough Trinity and North Ferriby United. Both clubs were struggling towards the wrong end of the Conference North table, so the points were vital. It might seem a strange one for a Sheffield United fan to go to, but the in-laws live near the ground and it was a good excuse to escape for an afternoon!
Gainsborough is only a small town and the ground is very well situated just a few minutes walk from the central shopping area and the train station.
There's an old industrial ground which is used as a car park right opposite the main turnstiles. It's £2 to park there. Alternatively, you can venture a little further away to the town centre car parks or chance the free on-street parking.
Typical non-league really we stood at the side of the pitch and had an unobstructed view - I can't remember seeing any pillars, so not bad at all.
No police presence, just a few stewards who stood near the noisy Ferriby fans.
There was a group of around 20 Ferriby fans who'd clearly spent the morning in the pub. They stood next to us on the terracing (there was no segregation) and were surprisingly vocal, but very foul-mouthed. Losing at half time, the ring leader decided enough was enough and spent the second half in the pub!
