With my team Birmingham City playing at home to Burton Albion in the FAC 3rd round and me living on the South Coast I decided to give it a miss and take advantage of visiting another ground so decided on the Watford v Bristol City match due to the fact Watford were selling tickets for this match at just £10.00.
I travelled up to Watford from the South Coast by train changing at Clapham Junction for a connection to Watford High Street, Vicarage Road is only about a 10 minute walk from that station and is central to the town centre. Just a short walk up the High Street is The Moon Under Water (JDWetherspoons), were I had a couple of pre-match pints, there was a good mix of both home & away fans inside.
I sat in the lower tier of The Graham Taylor stand where the view was very good, how'ever the seats are not the most comfortable and you are a little cramped.
I didn't buy any food & drink but the toilets were well positioned from my seat and were ok.
Did.nt see any police but the stewards were helpful, I was told by one the best way to exit the ground at full time in order to walk back to Watford High Street station.
The Bristol City fans were very quiet, but to be fare they didn't have a lot to sing about there team were very poor, how'ever I was surprised by the noise made throughout the match from a section of Watford fans. I meet a couple of Watford fans inside the pub and while we were watching the game on TV we were chatting as they were asking me about my team Birmingham City's poor season. Also being a neutral I didn't celebrate the three goals Watford scored which can sometimes bring a reaction from some fans but no one bothered me.
