southerntraveller has rated Bloomfield Road 2.0 out of 5.
As both clubs had been relegated from the Premier league the previous season both teams were hoping to make a quick return. The weather was awful that day, heavy rain and gusty winds and even though the stand the 4000 Birmingham fans were in was covered there was no side cover and the fact my seat was at the side of the stand meant I was getting soaked. The toilets and kiosks were also open to all the ellements. On a good day a trip to Blackpool is one of the best away days but not on a cold wet day in November.
I arrived by train at Blackpool South which is closer to the ground then Blackpool North, walking to the ground there's no shortage of pubs most were taken over by the Birmingham fans even though I did notice one pub which was for home supporters only, I finished up at The Bridge which is the main away fans pub. After the match I chose to walk to Blackpool North as there are more trains from there then Blackpool South, having a quick pint befroe getting a train to Preston for my connection back to Birmingham.
As I have already said I got soaked and there was no protection from the wind very dated stand.
Awful long queues for the toilet and having to stand in the rain to use them.
Police very heavy handed before kick off.
Them days Blackpool still had some support and with 4000 Birmingham fans inside Bloomfield Road the atmoshere was'nt bad neither was the match finishing all square at 2-2.
