soapywright has rated Somerset Park 5.0 out of 5.
A terrific old stadium, dont think its changed much since it was built in 1909.
Very friendly staff in the shop directed us to the Ally McCloed suite where we had a couple of pre-match pints. very friendly stewards and staff, a superb club and ground, just a shame they have a pretty poor team at the moment.
easy access in and out, didn't seem to be too many pubs around but were given the choice of the loval bowling club or the Ally McCloed suite by the friendly shop staff.
classic old terracing gives excellent views.
plenty toilets, altho not sure what it would be like if theres a big crowd, clean and modern.
A local caterer has his mobile van in the ground and has a good choice of food and drink.
Didn't see to many police, crowd was around 900. But the stewards were very friendly and helpful with directions.
Bit lacking as the game was very poor and Ayr have a very poor team, some good old comments and banter tho.
and smoking still allowed in the terracing!!
