Parking the car is easy in the area and if you are prepared to look around the streets to the south-east of the ground you can find plenty of watering holes (and the prices are pretty cheap too).
The ground itself, although large and generally full thereby creating a good atmosphere, is rather bland and unimaginative in it's structure. It's identikit like many of the new builds of the late '90's (such as Middlesborough, Southampton and Derby County).
Situated next to the River Wear. Getting there is dead easy from the A1 then the A19. But after the game.....! Unless you want to go to Newcastle or into the North Sea, if you're an away fan you can only go two ways - either directly west to the A19 or south on the A690 to further down the A19. I've tried both routes but it makes no difference! Be prepared to spend 1-1.5 hours to reach the A19 before you can put your foot down. Awful, it's worse than traffic in London!
Being a modern stadium, it would appear that there isn't a bad seat in the house. I've now been in both Away ends and the view is always good, although from 2012-13 season the away section is in the Gods in the North Stand (Strongbow Stand).
Bog standard (ie. not big enough) toilets. TV can be viewed on the concourse.
Didn't take any notice as I no longer pay silly prices in grounds.
Stewards helpful and friendly. They are knowledgeable regarding where your seat is situated.
When Sunderland are on top the Sunderland supporters can get very vociferous. The fans are really keen on their football, which is a credit to them, as they've not had a lot to shout about in general. (Apart from what has become the staple 1-0 victory against Manchester City every mid-season!).
