smithybridge-blue has rated Etihad Stadium 4.0 out of 5.
Although every avenue has been taken to give the modern football supporter the big match atmosphere, the whole day smacks of marketing and rather contrived. Great if you want this type of laid on entertainment, but most real fans do actually just go for the 90 minutes of football. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
Located to the east of the city centre about two miles out. Easily accessable by bus, tram and motor vehicle. Parking in the vicinity of the ground is very extensive but expect to pay over £5 for this facility as there is a large area aroung the ground which is restricted parking for permit holders only. Any street parking could be rather dodgy in this area. Pubs are mainly home fans only and are manned at the door so away fans need to go out of town or to the city centre.
All views in the stadium are good irrespective of where you sit. Some of the seats towards the middle of level 2 in the side stands are padded.
Within the stadium, there are the usual facilites such as Food concessions, bars, programme selling points, betting facilities, clean toilets and satellite/in house TV. Expect to wait and queue for every facility. The concourse is not big enough for the regular size of the attendance so can get rather busy and crowded.
There are other entertainments around the Etihad Campus such as a stage for bands/interviews pre-match, big screens, catering outlets, bars, club superstore, programme points. Everybody catered for with the big match experience in mind.
Usual pies, beverages, alcohol at premium prices. Expect to join a large queue where it's every man for himself! Staff are generally thick!
Large heavy police presence around the visitors entrance before the game and at the exit gates at full time. This is possibly one of the largest stewarded grounds around. All are generally helpful and knowledgeable.
For a regular 47000+ gate the general atmosphere could be a lot better, although the home fans situated either side of the travelling visitors can be vociferous and humourous. The "Poznan" always looks impressive.
