smithybridge-blue has rated Bootham Crescent 3.0 out of 5.
Like the City of York, Bootham Crescent is an olde worlde ground that reflects tradition and history. A great place to visit for the traditionalist football supporter that likes to stand where he wants in the ground to watch professional football.
Only a 10-15 minute walk from the steps of York Minster, the railway station is situated in the centre of York and so is within walking distance of the ground.
Car parking within the vicinity of the stadium is limited mainly to residents permit holders, not only because of the locality of the footall stadium but because it is so close to the boundaries of the city centre for day-trippers visiting this historic city.
A short walk from the walls of York City centre there are loads of things to do in York as you would expect from such a touristy place. Loads of pubs and eateries in the centre and also some pubs en route along the A19 to the stadium.
From the Main Stand the view is alright, but the upper half of the stand contains old tip-up wooden seats that are rather uncomfortable and cramped.
Tiny, smelly toilets under the main stand that have the bog rolls just chucked on the floor. Very Health & Safety!
Not signposted and could not find any outlets in The Main Stand.
Stewards seemed OK. Police presence near the ground in couples. Very low key.
Good atmosphere for a small stadium with both sets of supporters in good voice.
