"Maltese Cup Final 1976"

44 years ago a group of us holiday makers went to the National Stadium to watch the Maltese Cup Final between Valetta and Floriana. The pitch was dirt and the terraces crumbling. Unfortunately, the match was abandoned due to Valetta fans starting to riot as their team was losing 2-0. It got very ugly with supporters tearing up bits of the terraces and hurling rocks onto the pitch. The police came round with water cannons but by then we were making a hasty retreat to the streets outside. Not the most pleasant of memories!
