Walking along Emmet Road immediately outside the stadium you'd be forgiven for missing the football ground altogether. It's located in a valley which drops away behind the 2-3 storey terraces of Emmet Road and is hemmed in by the Camac river and mature trees on the other side. It's incredibly tight, with a decent sized main stand (by Irish standards), one modest uncovered end stand, a half-covered terraced end and triangular sliver of terracing along the river side. It's tight, it's quirky ,it's unique, it's got character.
Several bus routes run right by the stadium and the Luas tram service is a short walk away. Plenty of on street parking nearby if you're willing to park on residential streets- and I've never had any trouble in 50 odd visits- including the memorable time I left the keys in the car.
View from the stand is good, the away terrace behind the goal can be uncomfortably busy when a big club are visiting, especially when Pats employ the ludicrous policy of closing off the half of the terrace that is covered by the Shed roof. Access via the back of the stand is uncomfortably tight when there's any kind of crowd.
It's a tight little ground and can be atmospheric with a decent away support. The home team struggle to attract a significant regular support though.
