sapperdan has rated Stadio Olimpico 4.5 out of 5.
Can't remember the exact dates of the match, but it was for an international between Italy and Scotland, a qualifier around the mid nineties sometime. Was one of my best footballing experiences ever. Gaz , Bri and Myself travelled from Dumfries in Scotland to Rome in a Ford Fiesta. We stopped once in France, although I forget the name of the town there.
Next day drove down to Mont Blanc tunnel, passed through, where we eventually stopped at a small place named Ivrea, we received a fantastic welcome here and passed out the Iron Brus.
The best was yet to come when we arrived at Rome for the match, the reception for the Scotland fans from the locals was fantastic. I don't often get goose bumps , but the reception the Scottish fans got inside the ground was wonderous. Something I will never forget and will always be grateful to the Italians for the memories.
The trip was a hoot as a whole But I would need a licence as a novelist to complete the story.
Like I say it was the mid nineties, so things may have changed. We stayed in the Hotel Roma on the outskirts of Rome and were advised by the concierge to hire a taxi for the trip into the stadium, as the streets of Rome become manic before a football match. You can get buses at the stadium to return to your lodgings. Need to speak Italian though as not many Italians speaka da English.
Plenty of leg room and plenty of amenities.
Can't remember
