samwaters has rated Portman Road 4.0 out of 5.
Entering Portman road was a delight, they had manned turnstiles which gives a very nice old and "non-league" feel to a professional ground. Inside they also had a bar separate to the concourse. Small aspects such as the windows and stairs gave the ground an even more traditional feel, many of the fans were commenting on how it was a throwback to 1980s football.
Entering the stands, the stadium was very traditional, square and with seating that made you feel right on top of the pitch. The advertising boards were not electronic and the PA system was very old, although this is not as glamorous as other stadiumss built more recently, it again gave the same old and traditional feel.
The Ipswich support was not great, they were very quiet and there were a few empty seats, but the ground was very enjoyable and the inward shape of the roof increased the atmosphere massively.
Overall Portman Road is a very nice traditional stadium, and I hope to visit again.
