The first challenge at Bootham Crescent was getting past the turnstile. The man on the gate attempted to overcharge everybody, and got angry at us (however after a complaint, Keith the steward solved the issue, even though the ticket prices were still extortionate). After entering I purchased a pie and a drink. Unlike most non league grounds, this pie was heated out of a packet and was not home made. On top of this the bottle cap was removed from my drink, a typical ex-league club move. After my food, I went to use the toilets which were basically a drain. They stank like the toilets at the festival I had just been at smelt like after 3 hot days! There was no roof behind the goal, and so we all paid an extra pound to enter the side stand with the roof. After 5 minutes of standing up singing we were all told to sit down and had to leave to sing behind the goal instead. A person I had spoke to said he had visited this ground 21 years ago and nothing had changed since.
Overall York City is a non-league club stuck in the Football League mentality, with a ground that hasn\'t had a major update for over 21 years. Most of the stewards there are way too strict, and the man on the turnstile does not know what he is doing.
Please note: this ground has replaced Nuneaton as my worst ground.
