Well ... I would be lying if I said it was a good place to watch football. But needs must at the moment for the Millers. And Don Valley, only 4 miles from Millmoor, was almost certainly as good as it was going to get after been kicked out of Millmoor by Ken Booth. At least football fans visiting Don Valley can take comfort from the fact that the ground is far superior to the Withdean! Only the large covered stand is open on matchdays, and it takes some getting used to looking up and seening 3 completly unused stands. At least the DVS experience won't be around for too much longer, as the Millers are now 2 years into a 4 year lease of the stadium, and planning permission has now been granted for a new stadium in the centre of Rotherham, so the Millers will soon be home again.
In the Don Valley area (could never have guessed that!) of Sheffield, which has seen a lot of redevelopment over the last decade. The stadium is on the yellow tram route direct to the centre of Sheffield, which is about 10 minutes away on the tram.
A running track is always going to have a negative effect on the view. But, perhaps surprisingly, the view of the pitch is fairly good, as the distance from the pitch is cancelled out by the steepness of the stand. And no obstructed views to worry about either.
Pretty good. Plenty of catering facilities inside and outside the stand, as well as a temporary club shop, and kept in good order by Don Valley officials.
Not at all like normal football food, as it is cheap, and cooked properly! And the ground is one of a falling number that still sell chips to the punters.
No problems at all.
As you would expect, atmosphere is virtually non existant, not helped by - a) only one side of the ground been open, and - b) only 3,500 or so fans being in a ground that holds 25,000.
