Some clubs like to describe their home ground as a fortress.
Richmond Town maybe as close as you'll get to the real thing !
Overlooked menacingly by Richmond Castle this is a charming, simple ground with a clubhouse and railed pitch - where the role of home subs is to fish stray footballs from the nearby River Swale with a huge net.
The day we visited was quite dramatic - the away team arrived with no kit .It eventually arrived in time for a 75 minute delayed kick off and the home side then demolished Annfield Plain 9-1 as punishment for their lateness.
Nice visit.
