"New stadium with individuality"

has rated The King Power Stadium 4.0 out of 5.

ronaldinhollew's review of The King Power Stadium

The Walkers was one of the first "new" stadia to be built. Filbert Street's replacement later acted as a blueprint for many of the stadia we've seen erected in the last decade.

It's a very pleasant stadium, situated outside the bustling city centre. Away fans are housed in a corner, the opposite end of the tunnel. Leicester fans are very friendly, but also pack a good atmosphere.

This is a very good stadium.

Location

It's a 20 minute walk from the city centre. I would recommend a visit to the centre of Leicester as it's filled with shops, bars and a wide variety of restaurants. It's clear the city centre's been renovated recently and it looks very good.

The stadium's across the road from the Leicester Tigers rugby team's stadium, which is also being renovated slowly and looks great if you enjoy traditional English grounds.

It's easy to get to off the motorway, but not always easy to leave. Traffic is a big problem around the ground and the police haven't found a way of managing it from my experiences.

Parking is sparse, but you'll always find somewhere.

View

As with most new stadia it's very comfortable. Leg-room could be larger, but I won't complain after being at Elland Road.

Away fans are housed in a corner of the stadium, and the view is very good. From there you can see the entire playing surface very well.

Facilities

Clean, but there can be queues.

Food & Drink

The usual over-priced, mass-produced nonsense.

Police & Stewards

I found some police to be a little clueless about the local area. But they weren't heavy-handed and managed the crowd well.

Stewards were good.

Atmosphere

A pretty good atmosphere on the two occasions I've been at the Walkers, even though the second time was a cup match attended by little over 10,000.

The home fans are lead by a morbidly obese topless drummer. Ridicule of this lump is obligatory for visiting fans. If your fans don't chant at least one chorus of "Who ate all the pies?" then you can't be considered proper football supporters.

The home atmosphere isn't at all intimidating, though remains quite vocal.

Leicester fans tend to be very friendly.
