"Not a bad ground, shame about the club that use it"

has rated Bramall Lane 3.5 out of 5.

ronaldinhollew's review of Bramall Lane

I never had anything against Sheffield United before going to Bramall Lane. But that's one horrible club. Ugly football, ignorant fans and a sickening ethos.

But the ground's very nice. Redeveloped over the last few years, it looks bright and impressive. It's nice seeing a club ready to build on top of an existing ground instead of moving from the city centre.

Location

It's a 20 minute walk from the city centre. Sheffield city centre's been renovated in recent times, much like Bramall Lane. Though some areas still need a lick of paint, the city's great. Loads of restaurants, pubs and shops. Well worth a visit before heading to the ground.

The stadium was built in a very built-up area, so parking's not great. But just before you get to the ground there's a multi-storey car park on the St Mary's Gate roundabout.

Not a long walk from the train station.

There can be traffic.

View

Can't complain.

The away fans are housed on the lower tier behind one of the goals. The view is generally very good. If you're sat at the back of the stand the red sheet above the tier does block your view when the ball is booted high in the air (which is very often, when Sheffield United are playing).

Seats and leg-room are better than most.

Facilities

Plenty of toilets and all clean if I remember correctly. Not many queues either as the concourse's pretty sizeable.

Food & Drink

The usual. What you get at every Football League ground.

Police & Stewards

Police were slightly heavy handed, but generally OK.

The stewards were very quick to remove some little prat in the home end who thought he was being very clever flaunting his Cardiff shirt. The guy was antagonising our fans (doesn't usually take much) and within a few seconds stewards were escorting him out of the ground.

Atmosphere

The set up of the ground allows for a good atmosphere. The home fans were loud before kick-off, and packed a song or two.

The low roof above the away end allows for good singing from away supporters also.

Home fans could be irritating, miserable and uncultured, but they didn't strike me as particularly intimidating.
