rbailey has rated San Siro (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza) 5.0 out of 5.
We watched the Milan derby after buying the tickets from an agent in Switzerland. Well, what can you say about this stadium? If what we saw happened in England the ground would be closed. We started watching in the lower terrace under the Inter fans behind the goal and really could not see what they were up to until what looked like shreaded toilet paper came raining down on to our terrace followed by flares which of course started a fire. Enter fire brigade. Everyone fled their seats as they began to melt. Due to the danger and restricted view, we decided to move at half time down to a position near the corner flag alongside some nice policemen. We thought, we will be safe here. Wrong!! Second half started and so did the throwing of flares at the rozzers. When i looked up towards the Inter fans they was just a mass of orange flares and fans standing on the railings. It was also a long way up.
The stadium is quite impressive and you need to be an athlete to climb the circular towers to your seat but you won't beat the experience, if not a bit scary. Don't expect to buy a pie at half time, food is rather scarce. By the way, Inter won 1-0.and they were away!
Good access to ground via free bus shuttle from city centre
Seats very uncomfortable and restricted view at back of lower terrace
Not a lot
Not well guarded by our police friends
Unbeatable!!
