"O Fiorentina!"

has rated Stadio Artemio Franchi 3.5 out of 5.

phespirit's review of Stadio Artemio Franchi

Favourite continental club side. Only one visit to this ground, to see an injury-ravaged Fiorentina win 2-1 at home to Parma in the 1998/1999 season when both teams were flying high.

Location

Possible to walk from the centre of the city, but public transport is the easier option.

View

Three sides exposed, one covered. The covered stand's seats are comfortable and the views are good.

Facilities

Little or no official merchandise for sale in the ground.

Food & Drink

Vans selling snacks.

Police & Stewards

Stewards are helpful, police loiter around.

Atmosphere

Everything seemed to be roaring along nicely. Then came the sound of a small boy making monkey noises when a black player was in possession of the ball... and the sight of his expensively-dressed parents smiling down at him with affectionate approval. In 1999 this side of Italian football was still in the dark ages of ignorance. Has it moved on?
