phespirit has rated Skonto Stadions 2.0 out of 5.
Skonto stadions is the home ground for both Skonto Riga and the Latvian national team. Visited to see Skonto play at home to Dinaberg in July 2006. The quality of football was nothing to get excited about, but on a hot sunny summer afternoon it seemed a nice place to be. The game finished 2-0 to the home side, so the locals wandered away contentedly.
Outstanding location, near the heart of the city within a short walking distance of anywhere and everywhere an out-of-town visitor is likely to want to go.
Covered grandstand on three sides of the pitch, with room for a temporary grandstand to be set up on the fourth side behind one of the goals. Hard plastic seats with backs, not the last word in comfort but far from the worst to be found. View of the pitch is perfect.
Toilets were there if needed.
Available if needed, but not used.
Didn't notice them, so couldn't fault them.
The stadium is small and the crowd was small, so the atmosphere was quite muted. Away support was almost invisible. At least there was no danger of things turning ugly.
