Ground no 320 on this site. 24th March 2018. Southend Manor v Great Wakering Rovers, Essex senior league 1-1. Local derby, there were some feisty tackles flying in. Classic end to end stuff, both sides had chances. Southend took the lead, bit of a goalkeeping error and looked like they would hold on but GWR got a very late equaliser from a very well taken free kick.
This is basically football on a pitch in a park with some floodlights. Actually the rest of Southchurch park is a very nice park.
Easy location to find by car, just a couple of roads back from Southend seafront on the East side of Southend. By train would be an easy walk from Southend East or even Thorpe Bay.
One very small stand and on very small covered terrace. We stood along the side of the pitch and had a great view but it would not be great if it was raining.
The club house is modern and comfortable, The toilets were a bit cramped and not many of them but otherwise fine.
The clubhouse had a bar plus tea, coffees and burgers etc.
No police required and if there were any stewards I didn't really notice them.
Some atmosphere as GWR had brought a few travelling fans - not that many given it can't be much more than a ten minute drive from Great Wakering.
