"Proper Football"

Although biased being a Fulham fan, Craven Cottage really is a special ground, from the old wooden seats to the famous facade, it really is something different for a football ground.

Location

East Putney Tube is not miles away and the walk through Bishop's Park must be one of the most lovely to a football ground. No dedicated parking and side roads almost always full, buses also run close. Although perhaps not the most practical, the location is stunning, the leafy park and beautiful views from the Riverside Stand over the shining Thames.

In trouble if you are in the wooden seats but all the rest are standard. Pillars can also restrict your view and the seats are not as steep as some other stadiums but still perfectly acceptable.

Facilities

Plenty of toilets although not the cleanest things they will do.

Food & Drink

Not Haute-Cuisine but fine not the less, get you classic burgers, hotdogs and a 'Cottage Pie' not always the warmest or most delicious so wash down with a warm tea and a chocolate bar.

Police & Stewards

Ever-present but not at-all heavy handed (they usually don't have anything to do at Fulham). Are willing to help you e.g. find your seat and by the look of many of them they are just a reassuring presence rather than a crack team of highly trained staff. Fulham crowds are very friendly (we even have a neutral end) so don't expect trouble.

Atmosphere

Yes it can be quiet during a dull match, but isn't every stadium? 5 stars for those nights when the hairs on the back of your neck stood up. Fulham 4-1 Juventus was unforgettable, the emotional chorus of 'Stand Up If You Still Believe' which rang out the cottage. The cheers wobbling the old stands when we got to the final. Fulham support can be amazing but still safe enough to bring the kids along.
