First visit on the 6th of March 2019, with a few friends as we want to tick off as many non league grounds as possible, this is our second after York Road of Maidenhead.
You can’t beat a stadium, that is just minutes walk away from the train station, just pop up the maps app on a smartphone and you’re there in minutes, we didn’t see much of the area outside of the train station, with the exception of a pub just over the road from the station.
The best thing about grounds like this, is being able to stand or sit wherever, a small stand is on one side of the pitch, but my group stood behind the goal, there’s no better view, than being right next to the pitch and next to the action.
The quality of the burgers shocked me, it was wonderful, if I wasn’t watching my intake I’d have had seconds, the beer was great too, £3 a pint is not the worst for football alcohol. The inside of the food and drink area was kept tidy and well maintained, a board is on the wall, showing off the clubs achievements, I don’t know how the local fans rate their leagues and cups, but a first round appearance in the FA cup, back in 2000, is a fine achievement
I’ll need to attend more games (and at £5 a ticket, I will) but this time, it was a 7:45 kick off, cold, wet and an attendance of about 150 people so as you can imagine, it wasn’t the loudest. I think the loudest fans that celebrated the 4 goals, was our group
