Oakwood are a local team for me but I had never visited for a match until today. The ground is a bit off the beaten track and is not clearly marked from the main road through Crawley's industrial estate. The facilities consist of, essentially, the clubhouse / bar with a covered stand attached to it.
Really not obvious where this ground is. Located in Tinsley Lane, in Crawley's industrial estate. The ground itself id down a long track. There is car parking on site, but the cars are parked behind one of the goals...just hope the teams have their accurate shooting boots on ! Parking is inlcuded in match day admission
There is just a single 'stand' at Oakwood and this is attached to the clubhouse. One part of it has a bench for 6 (yes, SIX) people, although when I visited for the game against local rivals Crawley Down Gatwick, some of the seats from the bar had been brought outside! The clubhouse / stand side has hardstanding, but the other three sides of the ground are grass only - not too many peope venture anywhere else in the rain!
Toilets are in the clubhouse and hot/cold/alcoholic drinks can be bought from the bar
£1 for a half time cuppa
County league standard? Not likely - even with a big local derby against CDG. Crowd was about 55.
Very difficult to get much atmosphere with such a small crowd and when they are located on one side of the ground, but this is real grass roots football !
