Lingfield play in Division 2 of the Southern Combination League (formerly the Sussex County League), so this is Step 6 football. I visited for a home league match verses Mile Oak. Firstly, the ground is not located as shown on the map 1 It is on the Godstone Road which heads north west out of Lingfield and the club share the facilities with the Cricket Club.
If you like real grass roots non-league stuff, Lingfield is worth a visit, but it is pretty basic down at this level
As above - the map gives a wrong location for the ground. It is about 10 mins walk from Lingfield station, which is on the main line to East Grinstead. The walk to the club is through the village itself where there are a number of pubs and restuarants.. There is ample parking at the ground for the size of the gates attracted here (average attendance is between 30-40 unless its the local derby against Crawley Down Gatwick which will reach 3 figures)
The far side of the ground borders the cricket pitch so has no path, also lacking behind both goals. This makes it effectively a one sided ground. At the far left, near the corner flag is the main stand which has about 60 seats. Some of these were quite 'mossy' from the damp weather. The pavillion itself has a raised terrace with a few benches and seats. Dugouts are on thi side of the pitch and can obstruct the view o the corner flags a bit
Toilets are inside the club house. There is no club shop
Bar in the clubhouse / pavillion with a tea bar / food kiosk located next to it. Didn't purchase food but it looked like crisps, chocolate, chips etc
Nil
Like most grounds at this level, there isn't really very much atmosphere. The team managers are normally the most vocal in the ground.
