Visited the Denplan for a midweek county cup tie between Winchester City and Sholing. Everyone connected with Winchester was friendly and wanted to have a chat - especially when they realised it was my first visit
The ground is about a 15-20 minute walk north of the City centre and railway station, set in a residential area. There is a car park on site with room for about 100 cars although I noticed lots of people were parking in the nearby roads.
The ground has \"stands\" on three sides. Along the sides the stands have seating, totally about 100 seats in all. On the clubhouse side the stand is set about 20 feet from the perimetre fence which gives it a bit of a detached feel. Behind one goal is a covered terrace (bus shelter style). None of the stands are very old and have a temporary feel to them, which detracts a bit from the ground. A brand new large brick clubhouse and changing rooms facility is located on the corner.
Toilets in the club house, which is also where the match programme is sold. There is also a club shop (in a caravan) near the larger of the stands. This is well stocked with WC memorabiia, old programmes, books etc and run by a very friendly chap !
Burger and chips £2.50, hot drinks £1. Sold in a portakabin next to the shop. Bar in the club house
The stewards and staff of WCFC are very friendly
Pretty much like most grounds at this level. Not much singing etc, but you don\'t expect the Kop End at a non-league match !
