johnwickenden has rated Skinner Lane 2.0 out of 5.
The ground is known on the club website as Beechnut Lane.
Ponte Colls play in the Northern Premier League, Div 1 North West (as of season 19/20). The ground is situated near the site of the old Prince of Wales Colliery site, to the north of the town. The ground capacity is approximately 1,200 and, despite it's general condition, it is perfectly adequate for Step 4
The ground is located just off the A639 to the North West of the town. The surrounding area has been redeveloped to a retail park and housing estate. Unfortunately the area immediately surrounding the ground has been left unpaved, rutted and muddy - and unlit ! (fine unless its a midweek game in winter). The nearest station is Pontefract Monkhill which is about a 20 minute walk away, whilst the M62 is 5 minutes drive away
The ground's Main Stand is on the turnstile side of the ground and contains about 200 seats. Unfortunately the roof is missing from half of the stand. The end behind the goal to the right is a covered terrace, but the rest of the ground is uncovered and features a simple concrete path.
There are toilets in the bar (which is under the main stand) and also in a converted metal shipping container at the other end of the stand. There is no club shop but a range of merchandise can be bought from the bar.
There is a refreshment kiosk near the turnstiles, a cheeseburger and tea cost £4.70.
It was a cold Tuesday evening, a local derby against Ossett Utd in the League cup and a referee who seem intent on timewasting ! The crowd was 139...at least half were Ossett fans. Both went home happy (teh Colls lost but it meant they wouldn't have to face a Tuesday night trip to Brighouse !
