johnwickenden's review of Silver Jubilee Park

My visit here was to see Hendon (top of the Isthmian Premier) take on Kings Langley (nearing the foot of the Southern League Premier) in the FA Trophy. Hendon are now in the second season at SJP having been ground sharing around north London for a while

Location

Silver Jubilee Park is located in Kingsbury, just off Townsend Lane, which in itself was located off th A4006, just a few hundred yards from the A5 and Hendon Station (about 15 mins walk). The ground has a reasonable sized car park and there is plenty of parking in residential roads nearby. There are no pubs or eating places in the immediate vicinity, however Hendon and Kingsbury High Streets are within walking distance.

View

There is cover on all four sides of SJP. The Main Stand is co-located with the clubhouse and changing rooms etc and it contains approximately 100-150 seats. The stand behind the goal to the left (the car park end of the ground) is also a seater. Called the McCann Stand named after current manager and former player Gary McCann (Mr Hendon) this end of the ground is called the Bedford End. The far side of the ground has two seperate covered terraces with another located behind the goal at the right hand end of the ground. All three of these are of the metal "arena" style stands.

Facilities

Toilets are located at the end of the clubhouse near the turnstiles and are new and clean. There are also some inside the clubhouse itself. There is a club shop located in a shed just inside the turnstiles. This sells a decent range of club shirts, scarves. badges etc plus old programs and a book on the club history.

Food & Drink

There was a food kiosk next to the club shop but this was closed on my visit as the club had suffered vandalism earlier in the week. The clubhouse contains a bar plus an area selling hot drinks and burgers / pies etc

Police & Stewards

I took my elderly , wheelchair bound, father with me and the stewards were extremely helpful

Atmosphere

The crowd was 171 and the Hendon fans made a fair bit of noise. Not as boisterous as the likes of league rivals, Dulwich or Tonbridge but a good bunch
