I visited the Synners for their EBAC Northern League local derby against Norton and Stockton Ancients (NASA). The stadium has recently been renamed the CLS Sports Stadium. The ground is dominated by the enormous Main Stand which is far bigger than anyhring else at this level in Britain. The club itself has seen a number of former professionals appearing for them, but is possibly most famous as being the first club of Brian Clough
The ground is located on Central Avenue, about 1/2 mile from the A19 trunk road and a few hundred yards south of Billingham town centre and the small railway station. There is no car park on site but street parking outside the ground is easy.
The pitch is surrounded by a disused running track which means that the pitch is a few yards away from the spectators and the only cover in the ground is the main stand. In front of the stand is a terraced area, whilst the stand itself is divided into a seating area (wooden benches) in the centre and terraced areas to either side. Although the seating area is wooden benches it doesn't take away from the experience.
There are large toilets in the foot of the stand, by the entrance to the clubhouse. There is a clubshop / stall next to the turnstiles selling a range of merchandise and the programme is good vaue with plenty to read.
There is a well stocked bar underneath the stand and a tea bar - again underneath the stand, close to the players tunnel. Decent prices and standard non-league fayre on sale
Crowd was 149 but there was a really good atmosphere with plenty of noise from the home fans
