johnwickenden has rated Princess Royal Park 3.0 out of 5.
The ground is operated by the Princess Royal Sports and Community Trust as a venue which is available to the people of Banff and Macduff. There are a number of synthetic pitches behind the football pitch itself. Like many Highland League grounds, PRP has one big stand with little else - this particular stand is really quite impressive. The gound must also rank as one of the closest stadiums to the sea in the country.OK, not quite as close as Arbroath FC....but still less than a 100 yrds away from the north sea.
PRP is located on the estuary of the River Deveron in Banff. It is only a few hundred yards from the town centre and is situated alongside the main A98 (Fraserburgh to Inverness) road. Like Fraserburgh, Banff has no railway station...the nearest one is a long way away (about 25 miles). It's basically a long way from anywhere, being located on the NE tip of the Grampian part of Scotland, and is going to be an epic bus trip from Aberdeen. Basically, if you are planning on getting there by public transport then....well, don't ! I drove from Aberdeen Airport and it was a 55 minute drive.
There is plenty of car parking near the ground and in the town itself and there are plenty of Pubs and restuarants nearby.
There is one single stand at PRP. This is on the west side of the ground facing out over the estuary. It contains 360 seats, all of which are raised 20 feet above pitch level and are accessed by stairs at either end of the stand. There is an extra charge to sit in the seats. The area directly in front of the stand is not accessible to supporters as it is where the tunnel and dugouts are housed.
The rest of the perimetre of the pitch is accessible. However there is only a concrete patch on the stand side. The rest is plain grass although the other three sides do have slight banks.
Toilets are in the main stand.
There is no club shop (although there is an online one), but a few items of merchandise are available from the turnstiles.
As is common in the HFL, the club do not produce programmes.
There is a bar on the first floor of the stand. On the ground floor there is a tea bar, which serves regular scottish football match fayre (pies). These are excellent value at £1.50 each...much better than your average £3.00 burger at an English non-league club !
This is the highland league....everyone involved with the club is friendly. I've never met anyone at any of the clubs who isn't !
Crowd was 205. Rothes brought along a fair few and they were very vocal in their support. Perhaps the home support were a little more muted except for a group of about 20 teenagers - the Deveronvale Massive - who had a drum and sang all match. Good for them !!!
