"HoddesdonTown - Lowfield"

has rated Lowfield 2.5 out of 5.

johnwickenden's review of Lowfield

The ground is more correctly called "The Stuart Edwards Stadium", but is known by all as Lowfield. Harpenden Town play (in 2015/16) in the Spartan South Midlands, but the ground is easily capable of hosting matches at Step 4 (Southern League Central or Ryman North).

Location

The ground is located just 5 minutes walk west of Hoddesdon town centre in a residential area. This proximity means that places to drink and eat are not in short supply. Due to the layout of the town, the rail station is much further away, being located in the eastern side of the town - probably about 20 mins walk away. Car parking is in residential streets, but there didn't seem to be any lack of it for my visit (a local derby against Welwyn Garden City)

View

The Main Stand (the Elmer Elliott Stand) is on the far side of the pitch from the turnstiles and straddles the halfway line, seating about 100 spectators. There are no stanchions to obscure the view. The near side of the pitch (nearest the turnstiles) has a brand new stand containing an extra 64 seats, together with a simple wooden covered terrace. Both ends behind the goals are open.

Facilities

The clubhouse (which also serves the cricket pitch behind the goal) contains a bar, toilets and snack bar. There is no club shop, nor is any merchandise available (although I was told some lapel badges were on order)

Food & Drink

Normal sort of fayre for non-league grounds with comparable prices

Police & Stewards

Not at this level

Atmosphere

Slightly noisier than normal for Step5 but perhaps that was due to the local derby nature of the game, meaning that WGC brought at least half of the crowd.
