"Yaxley FC - Leading Drove"

has rated Leading Drove 2.5 out of 5.

johnwickenden's review of Leading Drove

Yaxley play (season 17/18) in the United Counties Premier. The ground is average size for this level but is well equipped and has clearly been modernised in recent years. The pitch is 3G so the club shouldn't get too many matches called off !
I came here to watch a pre-season friendly against Soham Town Rangers from the Isthmian one North.

Location

Yaxley is a small village on the southern outskirts of Peterborough and Leading Drove is on the southern edge of the village. This means getting here by public transport is not really an option. The nearest station is Peterborough which is easily over an hours walk away or a 20 minute taxi ride. Fortunately the club has a large car park !

View

Leading Drove has three stands. The Main stand runs from the halfway line towards the clubhouse / changing rooms end and seats about 100 people in plastic seats which don't (suprisingly) tip up. The other two stands are of the 'bus stop variety' - one single row of ten seats. One stand is past the Main stand on the other side of the halfway line whilst the other one is on the opposite side of the pitch to the main stand

Facilities

Toilets are in the very smart and modern clubhouse.
Suprisingly for this level there is a club shop which is part of the turnstile area. It sells a collection of programmes etc. I bought a club badge from behind the bar.

Food & Drink

Small kiosk next to the main stand or the bar inside - reasonable proces

Atmosphere

Not much for a pre-season friendly although the crowd was over 100 (probably more than their average league gate). Sham brought a ffew and the fans throughout were a friendly bunch
