"Redhill FC - Kiln Brow"

has rated Kiln Brow 1.5 out of 5.

johnwickenden's review of Kiln Brow

Redhill FC arguably reached their zenith in the 1983/84 season, winning the final Athenian League championship. Unfortunately it coincided with the local council giving them notice to quit their town centre Memorial Gound, which meant they were unable to move to the upper reaches of the Isthmian League as scheduled.
Since then, the limited facilities at Kiln Brow have seen them move around the Spartan and Sussex County Leagues, before a brief flirtation with the Isthmian Div 1 South and, this season - the Combined Counties League.
Unfortunately, 2015/16 looks like a second successive relegation and, at the time of my visit, the club seems to be on a downward spiral.

Location

Its a long way from Redhill town centre and station (2 miles) although buses to stop at the East Surrey Hospital next door. The ground is located next to the A23 road and has a large car park which is very uneven.

View

There are two stands at Kiln Brow, one seater and one covered terrace. The latter is strangely situated behind the corner flag nearest the turnstiles. The other stand is located alongside the clubhouse and changing rooms and contains approx 150 seats, but suffers from pillars along the front. There were no tannoy announcements during the match I attended nor were the teams posted anywere I could see.

Facilities

The toilets are in a breezeblock construction at the far end of the changing room building. The club shop (which was, by all accounts, very good) has now closed - victim of the drop in status of the club

Food & Drink

There is a bar in the clubhouse (a portakabin) and the normal tea bar selling hot drinks, chips etc at standard prices

Atmosphere

The club are now experiencing lower crowds (41 at my visit - midweek league match against Spelthorne Sports). The team is staring at a second successive relegation, so I expect next season crowds will be lower still. The visiting fans made far more noise than the regulars I'm afraid
