johnwickenden has rated Goring's Mead 3.0 out of 5.
I visited Goring's Mead to see a Southern Combination League match between YMCA and Hassocks. I had previously visited the ground last season when Horsham FC (of the Isthmian League) were lodging. Gorings Mead is a nice ground for Step 5, although YMCA did spend several seasons at the next step up in the last decade.
Goring's Mead is located at the end of a road of the same name about 200 yards east of Horsham Town Centre. This means that there are plenty of places to eat and drink within 10 minutes walk of the ground. There is a car park on site which holds about 100 cars, with other parking in the town. The train station is, unfortunately, further away and is between 20-30 mins walk.
Goring's Mead has three stands. The Main one (The HFL stand) is adjacent to the clubhouse / changing rooms and has approx 200 seats - certainly bigger than most of the grounds in this league, although not quite as imposing as the stand at Hanbury Park. To the right of this (on the car park side) is one of the new style metal ' portable' stands. The far side of the ground contains another which is a covered terrace. Surrounding the pitch is a hard path
Toilets are in the clubhouse. There is no club shop but a few pieces of club merchandise can be bought from the bar. The programme merits a mention, consisting of 24 pages, full colour, with plenty of match reports and other bits to read.
There is a licensed bar in the club house which sells, amongst other drink, Hepworths Real Ale (brewed in the town). There is also a snack / tea bar inside which sells a wide variety of burgers, chips, sausage rolls etc plus hot drinks. Prices were slightly above average for this league
The crowd for the game was a large 161.....(many teams in the division struggle to reach triple digits). Athough there was no singing or chanting , the home fans did get behind their team and give them plenty of encouragement
