"The GAC Stadium - East Court"

has rated East Court 2.5 out of 5.

johnwickenden's review of East Court

First visited 27/2/16 for a Ryman League Div 1 S game against Walton Casuals.
East Court (known as the GAC Stadium for the club sponsors) is a tidy little ground. The club colours of yellow and black are everywhere (their nickname is 'the wasps') and the facilities are fairly modern. The buildings appear to be prefab metal construction replacing the previous structures which, themselves were only installed in the early 80s.

Location

The ground is not well signposted until you are all but there and the location pin on the website map is in the wrong place (the ground is slightly to the north). A good 15 min walk from the train and bus station, although some buses to Tunbridge Wells run past. The ground itself is up a long secluded drive and has a large car park, further parking is available at the council office a little further up the hill. Becuase of it's secuded location there are no pubs in the immediate vicinity, although pubs in the town centre are about a 10 minute walk (uphill from the ground)

View

East Court has one seater stand, catering for about 100 spectators, plus a small covered terrace a few yards away. Both of these are along the length of the pitch and are raised above the playing surface by a bank (similar to the Dripping Pan at Lewes). View is pretty good from the stand. The clubhouse is situated behind the goal adjacent to the turnstiles whilst the other two sides are open with a hard path all the way round

Facilities

Toilets are located in the same structure as the clubhouse / bar and are modern. The club shop is closed, however a small selection of souvenirs is displayed in a case in the clubhouse and can be purchased from the bar.

Food & Drink

Drinks etc from the bar. There is also the usual tea bar selling drinks, chips, burgers etc for normal non-league prices (except the bovril was 80p more expensive than tea, coffee or soup - why?). The tea bar is located in a brick building between the two stands so is very convenient.

Police & Stewards

none

Atmosphere

It's Ryman league Division 1 so crowds are small (77 for this game). The home support don't make too much noise but do get behind their team.
