jmfcuk's review of Wembley Stadium

Millwall 2-3 Scunthorpe United 24/5/09
The ground is simply incredible to be inside, the atmosphere when 45,000 people around you go up because your striker has just scored a blistering half volley on the turn from 30+ yards is something I don't think I'll ever forget. It's roomy, well built, clean, excellently controlled and run. I can have barely any complaints about this awesome stadium.

Location

It's near to several stations, these can be difficult to get into after the matches but with 90,000 people that is always going to be the case. Getting away is well managed and normally orderly. Walking up Olympic (Wembley) Way before a big event is a must! The atmosphere walking up there was brilliant.

View

I have been twice, once sat up in the rafters and now once only about 20 rows back and both times my view was fantastic. I can't say I sat down much but the seats seemed comfortable and certainly had plenty of leg room.

Facilities

Loads of loos but not all that many cubicles. Not a huge issue, I know. Everything was extremely clean and spacious.

Food & Drink

Food was pricey and my mates pie had some very dubious looking pastry on it but he said the filling was good. Drink is served quickly and is fairly decent for football ground stuff. Plastic pint glasses are never great though!

Police & Stewards

Can have no complaints, they were all polite and reasonable whilst doing their job. We were standing int he disabled area (an hour before kick off) taking some photos and a steward told us we couldn't be there long and to hurry up, rather than taking the law into his own hands and shouting at us like they would at some grounds I know. Getting away is always very safely organised. I saw one guy collapse because of the heat in the queue up to Wembley Park tube and police were very quick to help.

Atmosphere

Electric. Like nothing I've ever experienced. I remember Tim Cahill scoring at Old Trafford to put us in the FA Cup Final but nothing I've ever seen or heard comes close to the feeling and the noise when Gary Alexander scored twice in 3 minutes at Wembley. Simply electric.
